The Luscious Lunch Days

Welcome to the Peartree Lane Cooking Experience, led by Penny Wenlock and ably assisted by Annie Smale.

Penny and Annie have worked together for six years, cooking together at the famous Pukeko Junction Cafe, catering for various weddings and functions including for thousands at the Manderlay Garden Show.

We have called this a Cooking Experience as the day is held in a lovely historic house – the original wooden homestead in the Hillsborough Valley, built in the 1800's, with wide verandahs and a sunny courtyard, all set in a garden of mature trees and raised vegetable beds.

The day
On arriving at Peartree Lane at about 10am, we’ll start the day with coffee and a little something in the courtyard if it’s sunny or around the roaring fire in the drawing room if not.

This is a time to say hello and talk about what we will do during the day.
Back in the kitchen, sitting around the big table or perched on high stools, we will demonstrate how to re-create the little something you have just eaten ... giving you one to take home! Then we move on to lunch.

On the menu
• Fresh salmon, capers and coriander baked in paper served with herby mayo
• Chicken breast stuffed with feta, prunes and pickled red pepper
• Curried kumara and cashew nut filo parcel
• Three salads
• Crème brulée
• Italian rice pudding
• Seasonal roasted fruit with bay leaves


The only thing left to do after that is to pop the champagne cork, set the table and all sit down to enjoy the lunch and each others’ company.

You will leave Peartree Lane with a little sample box, copies of each of the recipes and brimming with inspiration.

The cost for the day is $85 and we can cater for up to 12 people.
